Description | 🔵 AT&T and Functions originally created DjVU as a technology used to compress images. It has free and available source code and serves as a proxy to PDF. DjVU enables the distribution of scanned documents, photographs, and high-definition images on the internet. There is a complete set of DjVU viewers, browser add-ons, and devices capable of executing binary codes that are available on both Windows and Mac devices. |
Technical details | 🔵 In the early 1990s and 2000s, AT&T developed DjVU by Yann LeCun, Leon Bottou, Patrick Haffner, and Paul G. Howard. DjVU is considered superior to PDF because it can easily convert large amounts of text to DjVU, its files are small in size, and people can use it freely. DjVU is divided into three types of images: background, foreground, and mask images, all of which have high resolution. The compression algorithm IW44 is used for compressing foreground and background images, while JB2 is used for compressing mask images, resulting in a significant reduction in image size. |

Description | 🔵 MOBI (Mobipocket e-book format) is an electronic book format developed by the French company Mobipocket SA specifically for mobile phones with low bandwidth. It is based on the Open eBook standard using XHTML and can incorporate JavaScript and frames. The MOBI format is widely used on e-book readers, particularly on Kindle devices. |
Technical details | 🔵 The Mobi files can be formatted in Javascript. Pages, notes, and drawings can be attached to the files. Additionally, the Mobipocket Reader includes a built-in dictionary. There is a 64K limit on images. Despite being cumbersome for larger devices such as desktops and laptops, it has proven to be advantageous for smaller devices like mobile phones.
