Meanwhile, HEVC algorithm breaks images down into Coding Tree Units (CTUs), with a maximum size of 64x64 pixels. In the case of h.264, each macroblock can only be predicted as either intraframe or interframe. During interframe compression, pixels are borrowed from adjacent frames, while intraframe compression borrows pixels within the same frame. HEVC utilizes a combination of interframe and intraframe compression processes within CTUs.
