| Description | This is a text document file format that was created in 1980 by Satellite Systems International for their WordPerfect word processing software. Several versions of Microsoft Word can open WPD files. In 1997, the production of DOS and Macintosh versions of WordPerfect was discontinued, while the current owners, Corel, continued to produce the Windows version. WordPerfect remained the most popular office suite until two years ago, when it was acquired by Novell in 1994 and by Corel in 1996. |
